MEANDERLINK
Commissioned by the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, Mass
for "Art on The Emerald Necklace", in celebration of Frederick
Law Olmsteds legacy in Boston.
"Meanderlink," a small plane trailing a banner designed
by the artist, flew 100 feet above the park, Saturdays and Sundays
between July 15 and August 13 2000, between the hours of 5 PM and
7 PM. The banner depicts 2 figures tossing a map to each other.
The map is an Olmsted drawing of Bussey Hill in the Arnold Arboretum.
The banner illustrates Olmsted's idea that beautiful public spaces
make people feel more connected to each other, than they would otherwise
feel in the stress of ordinary urban life.
A free magazine with a quote from Omsted was distributed in the
Emerald Necklace Park.
